So, you’ll leave to see the world for a year. The planet is huge, there are many countries to visit and many cultures to experience. So, how to choose where to go?

First, you should decide what you wanna do. Do you want to visit a famous place? Experience different cultures? Be in touch with nature? Go for a spiritual retreat? For all this questions, there is an answer (more than one, actually).

Ok, if you are interested in visiting world famous sights, there is no mystery. Everyone knows that Machu Picchu is in Peru or that the Angkor Temples are located in Cambodia. However, you probably don’t want to go all the way to these countries just to take photos in world famous places and go back. So, for example, if you come from the west side of the world, discovering Asia might be a pretty cool experience (and vice versa if you come from the east). So, besides pretty pictures, you will also have the chance to get to know a very different lifestyle and culture, which is, at least for me, one of the most valuable things about traveling.

The Pyramids of Giza are one of the most famous sights in the world!

Machu Picchu is also very famous world wide and probably the main reason why most people go to, not only Peru, but also South America!

The ancient Ankgor Temples, in Cambodia are becoming more and more famous

Well, if your thing is nature, there are many more options to choose from. From white sand beaches to the highest mountains in the world, you will have to decide the best season (usually the driest) of the year to go. Beaches are everywhere. Brazil, Peru, the caribbean islands, Mexico, Thailand, Egypt, Croatia, The Philippines, Malaysia, Australia… For the mountains, there is Nepal, home of the huge Himalayas, Patagonia region in South America, many european countries or Brazil, with it’s tropical trekkings. So, since there are many kinds of nature, see what you like the best and go for it!

Brazil is full of beautiful nature!

Nepal is a world class destination for mountain lovers!

But, the thai beaches are a very nice place to kick back!

Now, if you are looking for amazing, beautiful cities, there are many places to go! And, usually, Europe is the most convenient place to visit. With it’s trains and backpacking facilities, it’s very easy to move around and have information about where and how to go. When I travel, I don’t usually spend much time in urban places, but I have to say that cities like Barcelona and Paris are really incredible and totally worth to visit. Also, I’ve heard that Berlin is one of the most amazing cities in Europe!

Seoul, in South Korea, is a very organized city

La Sagrada Família is the most famous sight in beautiful Barcelona!

Who has never heard of the Eiffel Tower?

So, yea, as I said, the world is huge and full of opportunities, just find out what you want and go out and see the world! 🙂
